So Far Away

Lesson by: Hector Trejo

Lesson description

Even though this may seem like an “easy” solo to play relative to other solos, emphasis on stylistic concepts such as vibrato, bending, and different types of articulation are crucial to take your playing to the next level!

Syn's tips

Chord Families
E minor and G Major share the same Chord Family since they are made up of the same notes (starting at different points of the scale).

Bending
Bending strings is something that can add a lot of flavor to your playing if done right! Check out this lesson to learn more.

Tones & Tension
Part of every great story is the “tension” and “release”. Same with music - hitting landing tones over the appropriate chords sounds nice but sounds even nicer when you “resolve” from a “tension” note.

Hammer Ons and Pull Offs
Legato style can add more texture to your playing. The contrast between articulating picked notes vs. playing them smoothly using hammer ons and pull offs will make you sound wise beyond your years!

Rhythms
Rhythms are just as important to music (if not more) as the actual melodic structure.
