Like usually the solo had the melody of the song right.. so realistically you practice the solo through the riff of the song as realstically the song would usually follow the pattern of the melody. So your body is already in sincwith the flow and the sounds of the notes you need for the solo. Then you hit the solo and your bosybjust reacts accordingly. It remembers just how far to bend for pitch.. or slide.. vibrato etc. You may even get some extra spice in there between notes cause you remember where you're going so you shred to the note rather then hold the last one the whole beat.
I've never gotten into the habit of learning just a solo. I think that's why I can play for hours without rests.
