I need some help with a part on Seize the Day

It’s been a minute since I’ve posted a help video in true awkward Alicia Style, but I’m back with an even better mom bun and more eye bags !

Seriously though, I’ve been playing a little less than a year so this solo is teaching me a plethora of techniques and I’m working on a bunch.Hector has been fucking amazing (but I don’t want to aggravate him to death) there’s one spot where I’m not sure if it’s just more practice needed or if you guys might have some secret wisdom to share ! Let me know Fam!

Edit: so in the video I say 2 notes after the bend but it’s really 3 notes lol. I get nervous and screw up what I’m trying to say.

This put the biggest smile on my face!!! You're doing so good!! I definitely want to hear what other students have to say on this. For me, I think its kind of like barre chords. Its just a matter of repetition and at some point, the fingers will develop the muscle memory needed for all the notes to come out. That's more of a philosophical answer as opposed to a technical one (Which would probably help you out more).... so I wanna see what others have to say!

Hmm, I'll try to explain the way I do that bit (I really should get back to finishing learning this solo) and hopefully it makes sense.

I bend up at the 13th and as I hit the 10th on the first string I release the bend and while doing so lift my finger so I am no longer fretting the string but staying in contact with it so it mutes it.

Clear as mud?

Practice the bend and muted release on it's own first to get that muscle memory working the introduce the rest of the lick.

Awww thank you Hector ! You’re seriously such an angel and I didn’t want to bother you with this, and I actually love your philosophical answer lol because that’s honestly what I thought myself. I just need more practice and experience ! You’re the fucking man! I’ve got so much love for you dude !

Okay I think I have what you’re sayin. So instead of focusing on muting the bend with your picking hand like I’m doing, you go ahead and hit the next note while you’re in the bend ?
but still actually mute it but use your other fingers after the next note to mute it too? I think I’m clear as mud here here too haha.

You want to release the bend as you play the next note, that way they don't bleed into each other. Mute with your left hand by lightly lifting your finger as you release the bent string, enough that it lifts from the fret but remains in contact with your finger as it returns to position.

I think you might be overthinking it a bit too. It's not like you have to smash your hand onto the strings to mute it. It's enough to all so slightly relief the tension on the finger you're bending with to stop the bend. So it's just a new kind of fingering you have to get used to. And should it's quite a common thing in blues and metal solos. Kirk Hammett does this a lot too!!
And by the way, you are doing GREAT! It seems like you're still far away maybe but you're improving every time I see you play. One last tip. As soon as you're able to, add VIBRATO. It makes all the difference in Syn's Solos
