Hey fellow guitarists!
I'm back here from a long absence. I started back when the site was first opened and am glad to be back! I got the bug for guitar and music when I was a little kid listening to my dad play Eric Clapton, B.B King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Gary Moore and countless other musicians and bands. I listen to everything from Pop to Metal, to Jazz. Three of my biggest influences are Steve Lukather, Neal Schon and Eric Johnson. I also have to put Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield in there as well. I was so surprised after seeing Papa Syn on tour with Jeff Dunham and realizing it was him! Ha! So cool. I'm looking forward to getting back into these lessons and getting another perspective on playing this amazing instrument.
I play multiple instruments, including guitar, bass, piano and saxophone. I started seriously studying the guitar when I was twelve. Oddly enough, I really got the bug to learn when I was 8 after hearing Roy Hay's solo on "Miss Me Blind", by Culture Club. If you haven't heard that solo, you are missing out. He's really overlooked in guitar circles. My biggest influences are Steve Lukather, Eric Johnson and Neal Schon, but I also have to put James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett in there as well. I literally listen to anything with the guitar in it aside from really twangy, boot-scootin' boogie country.
I've been blessed to have a band in college that got pretty far, but fizzled out. The last straw was my drummer bailing on us during the Warped tour. Aside from that, I've been so lucky to meet Joe Satriani and learn from Paul Gilbert! I still try to use his program when I can. At last count, I have amassed 12 guitars and 3 amps...and I don't plan to stop! Haha! Oddly enough, after years of playing Metal and hard rock, I have gravitated to my two Gretsch guitars and my PRS guitars. My hollowbody G2420T Gretsch is one of my favorites! I am so into hollowbody and Semi-Hollow guitars now. My favorite amps are my Fender Supersonic 22 combo and my Marshall JCM2000 DSL50. I also LOVE Orange amps and find the Crush series my newest go-to.
Either way, I'm here to learn and grow as a guitarist and musician and be a part of the community here! Cheers Everyone!
