Extreme is back after a long hiatus. Nuno Bettencourt really shows his chops on the release titled, "Rise". The album name is, "Six"

The new album releases on June 9th! https://extreme-band.com

I'm sure that our younger audience might not be familiar with Extreme or Nuno Bettencourt.

    Extreme - 1989
    Pornograpffitti - 1990
III Sides to Every Story - 1992
Waiting for the Punch Line - 1995
    Saudades De Rock - 2008

Extreme broke up and Nuno started a solo career.

    Morning Widows - 1997
    Schizophonic - 1997
    Population 1 - 2002
    Dramagods - (formerly known as Population 1) - 2005
    Population 1 - Sessions from Room 4 - 2006

The above information is sketchy and I could be wrong. Needless to say, the albums did not gain as much popularity in the US.

    Extreme:

    First Album: Kid Ego

    Second Album: Pornograffitti (Live)

    Third Album: Cupid's Dead (Live)

    Fourth Album: Midnight Express (Live)

    Fifth Album: Comfortably Dumb

Nuno is a fucking god. The first extreme album is one of the only albums I ever bought cold. I hadn't heard of them, and I hadn't heard anything. I was in Target, I think, and they had the CD on one of the endcaps of an aisle in the long anti-theft boxes. I'd been playing about 5 years by that point. I looked at it, and the guitar player (who turned out to be Nuno) just looked fucking exhausted and my 19 year old brain mused that "it must be from carrying the whole band. I want to check this out."

There was no internet back then, so I bought the CD and was blown away. The first album is more Van Halen homage than their own real sound, to me, and the real band emerged more on Pornograffiti and III Sides, which is probably my favorite album by them.

Rise is a decent song elevated tenfold by Nuno's solo break, which is just fucking amazing.

He's been in Rihanna's backing band for the last 10-15 years, and he was on the stage during her Super Bowl halftime show last month.

As an Extreme superfan, Nuno is indeed a God, right up there with Slash and Van Halen, and almost on Syn's level.

Pornograffiti as an album is in my top 10, and it displays amazing songwriting and technicality. I like Gary Cherone on vocals a lot as well. (I wish things had gone better with him and Van Halen)

This new song, while not my favorite by them, still has some really good moments, particularly the guitar solo. The lead vocals aren't my favorite, but I can't wait to hear their next songs. I'm anticipating this next album a lot.

The first song I tried to play was More Than Words, I forgot where I got it from as I was listening to other music at the time. I never really heard any music from Extreme other than that song. Really amazing and energy. The riff around 4:38 on the last linked song, it was different sounding, maybe it's like a different mood or scale
