    Flaws and all

When I was a teenager I could bang out master flawlessly (believe it or not). Rhythm only. Now I am straining to recupe the strength in my hands to do it again. No excuses. I will get there.

    Ask me things

I think I’m going to learn how to play this song. It is Bleed Me An Ocean by Acid Bath and apparently I’m supposed to put it in C standard tuning which I’ve done. I cannot get a straight answer from Google about whether it should be in 440 or 400 Hertz or if it even matters. I would like to know...

    Ask me things

That’s an unrehearsed master intro for context.

    Ask me things

People that know nothing about music think that I’m a good guitar player. People with even the most basic understanding of Music know that I need to take lessons which is why I’m here

    Ask me things

I’ve never been very good at playing my own music because I never took the time to understand it. I just copied whatever the guitar player did. Tom morello James hetfield dave mustaine etc. But everything that I played was noise because i didn’t how important time is. I’m starting over.

    Ask me things

So it’s a contextually based concept that a scale must end on root. Got it.
  18. Johnny Spradlin

    Ask me things

So should I start saying end the scale instead of resolve the scale?
  19. Johnny Spradlin

    Ask me things

The reason that I ask is because when I play through a scale if I stop on 7 it feels incomplete however if I end on root it feels different and more complete

    Ask me things

I’m still working to build a vocabulary to communicate effectively with people who are accomplished musicians. Am I correct in the thought that the 7th note of a scale cannot resolve that scale? And is this not also true of chord progression?
