    DISCO VOLANTE by Mr. Bungle

Mr. Bungle is an aural rollercoaster, there are so many twists, turns and loops that it can be a fine line between having fun or throwing up and shitting yourself 😆 Much like Guinness or human flesh, they are an acquired taste 😉 I have yet to listen to this particular album though, will give...

EDDIE VAN HALEN TRIBUTE CONTEST ANNOUNCED!

Damn, almost forgot all about this. Initially this was going to be a progress video, but I am not sure I will get the time to polish before the deadline. Now it will become my submission, terrible timing and all 🤟 This is the first riff I think of when I hear the words Van Halen, and it has...

    Boss Metal Zone Distortion pedal

I owned one in my teens and it sounded pretty good to my ears, and it gave me the high gain sound I wanted. I am sure there are much better options available now, and it probably wouldn't be my first choice today, but at the time I thought it was the ducks nuts.

    Fast Picking and Bad Habits

They are just hyperlinks, you use the little chainlink symbol to create them. If you are concerned about them being malicious links you can right click it on PC or press and hold on mobile to see the link path, then you can decide if you want to click on it👍

    Fast Picking and Bad Habits

Spend a bit of time with a looping lick like this and play it slow, painfully slow, really focus on STRICT alternate picking, straight up, down, up, down, no exceptions. You want to get that motion ingrained into your muscle memory, slowly build up your speed over time.

    The Stage turns 4!

Hmm, I have no idea where I was when it first dropped, I only heard it for the first time last year. Not a very cool story, sorry Dom 😆

    Fingerpicking/non-strumming songs

Desolate Ways by Morbid Angel is a really nice classical style piece, not overly complicated to play and sounds great.

    Fingerpicking/non-strumming songs

Hmm, I use a pick for both Justice and Fade, but for Tallica fingerpicking Nothing Else Matters and the short clean section in To Live Is To Die are great. Some top choices above too.

    Eddie Van Halen Tributes

I was going to have a crack at Panama but wasn't sure I could get it sorted in 2 days, but now I have until the 24th, yay!

    RIP EVH

While I have never been a big Van Halen fan, I have nothing but respect for Eddie and his influence on modern guitar. RIP Eddie and thank you for the legacy you have left🤘

@William Byerley I think there is a demo version you can download, I remember trying it first that way because my laptop is a 15+ year old potato (which handles Rocksmith with all of the fancy graphic stuff turned off).

It is a great album, and widely regarded as their best, but ranks #2 for me. I will always have a soft spot for Vulgar, it knocked me on my ass when I first heard it and it still delivers exactly what the title promises today!

Rocksmith is heaps of fun! Don't forget to use riff repeater to slow things down when you need to practice anything tricky. What are you using to record your gameplay? @William Byerley The game is Rocksmith, not free to play but you can pick it up cheap during Steam sales. There is a bit to...

Coming along nicely Alicia, your bends have improved a lot since your first video playing this🤘

I am 35, should I still develop my musical ear?

Rick Beato has some good Youtube videos on the subject. I also use an app called Perfect Ear which is very good. Practice identifying intervals by ear and try transcribing a few licks and riffs as a starting point.

You want to release the bend as you play the next note, that way they don't bleed into each other. Mute with your left hand by lightly lifting your finger as you release the bent string, enough that it lifts from the fret but remains in contact with your finger as it returns to position.

Comment by 'Adin Shepherd' in media 'I need some help with a part on Seize the Day'

Hmm, I'll try to explain the way I do that bit (I really should get back to finishing learning this solo) and hopefully it makes sense. I bend up at the 13th and as I hit the 10th on the first string I release the bend and while doing so lift my finger so I am no longer fretting the string but...
