    Palm muting

Two things matter for palm muting. Pressure and placement. Placement, you just move forward or back from the spot where the string hits the saddle. Pressure is pressure. Not sure what you mean by "can't bend that far" to "play on the bridge pickup?" Pickup choice is entirely independent of...

any news on when lessons videos will be functional again?

IRL I’m im IT, so I feel that. Unfortunately, not everything was backed up because musicians aren’t as fanatical about backups. 😆

any news on when lessons videos will be functional again?

Working on the Etudes as we speak. I've recently been taught how to do SOME of the things needed to correct. The tapping Etudes are working again (literally as of yesterday). Sweep picking 7-10 are done (Sweep picking 1-6 have other issues that need to be fixed). As we get done with a lot of the...

    Getting used to drop tunings

Most guitarists - at least rock and metal guitarists - still think in terms of E or Drop D, unless they go down as far as baritone tuning (B). In other words, even if the guitar is tuned to D standard (1 whole step down), they still think of this as an E power chord: x x x 2 2 0 Even though...

    What's your go to guitar?

Love my Kiesel (Osiris), but my go-to right now is my EBMM JP-15.

Guitar Best way to clean your fretboard?

For normal situations, yeah - cleaning spray or even warm soapy water on a microfiber rag. But if you're deep in the caked on shit and gunk, get Gorgomyte. https://www.gorgomyte.com/

Can you put a EVH D-tuna on a syn guitar?

An option you could entertain is tuning the string to E with the fine-tuning screw almost all the way tightened when you lock down the nut. From there, you *should* be able to get down to D only with the fine-tuner. While that would take longer than a D-Tuna, it's probably less time than...

Can you put a EVH D-tuna on a syn guitar?

The D-Tuna works best when you have the Floyd surface-mounted, meaning the body isn't routed to sit the trem lower into the body. The Syn guitars have the trem recessed (routed), so if you want to add a D-Tuna and use it to its fullest extent, you need to route the cavity back about 3/4 of an...

    Concert Advice

Can't love this enough. Between years of gigging and band rehearsals and literally HUNDREDS of concerts (probably over 1,000 if you include club shows), I have worn plugs at EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. And though I have a distinct knack for not hearing my wife when she yells for me, and I also have...

What is your favorite A7X album?

I still consider LIBAD too new to really rate/rank honestly, so I'm leaving that out of the running for now. With that, it is and has been The Stage for several years now. Before that, it was CoE.

    Raw material

The best you're likely to get is stems (tracks separated by instrument, but not individual track, so the "guitar track" would include all the rhythm guitars, lead and harmony guitars, etc). These are different than original multitracks, which I imagine the band are very protective of. Periphery...

Guitar Help a dude with his first pedal setup?

Put the noise gate first, and unless you're going for djent tightness, set the threshold so it barely closes the gate when you roll the guitar's volume down to off. IMO. Of course, you would only use it that way on dirty tones.

Guitar Help a dude with his first pedal setup?

    1. Correct 2. It’s kinda drop or nothing unless you go to a modeling amp.

    Older guitars

Modern tube amps can usually be ready in a minute or two but they sound best if you give them like 10 minutes or so for the tubes to get properly toasty.

    Syn’s Tattoos

I don’t *think* so. None of the times I’ve hung with him did he smell like Marlboro Country and I’ve only seen him with a cigarette in the latest photo shoot and they were just fooling around with those. I could be wrong but I don’t think so.
