    The Rev’s drumming

All of Nightmare's drums were played by Mike Portney (playing as close to Jimmy's style as possible), at the time still in Dream Theater. Port was one of Jimmy's heroes and filled in for the tour as well. Drama ensued, but that's ancient history. Self-Titled was the last album to feature...

    The Cost of the Road

Buying doesn't make sense. Typically, you'd be looking at using it for six months out of every three years or so, and paying to store, register, insure and maintain it for the rest. Then there's the bit about a headlining band having to bring their own stage, PA, lighting and gear everywhere...

    The Cost of the Road

This tour manager took Shadows' statement about tour bus costs being up $2 million over their last tour, and broke it down and investigated a little during a livestream. It's fascinating, and gives a little more insight into what it takes for a band like Avenged to hit the road for six months.

What are you currently listening to?

Bit of a hidden gem here, After the Crue fired Vince Neil, he did a solo album with a hired gun band, including Steve Stevens from Billy Idol's band. Most of the album is dogshit, but the opening track has some fire and a cool solo.

    Winery Dogs kick ass, William!

Thoughts on that new 7 stringed beast?

Yeah, I had a 7 for a few years, and I just never gelled with it. Only schecter I ever had, too.

Thoughts on that new 7 stringed beast?

I love that it's headless. As we, ahem, get older, weight is more important for a tool we wear over one shoulder for hours at a time. You'd be surprised at how much weight is save, and how much better balance is, when you go headless.

    Playthrough/Lessons

They're already in heavy press and tour-prep mode, and he was building sounds, stage show, and MIDI control for lights and AxeFX sounds (for everyone) right up until the day tour rehearsals started. If he was gonna do this, he would have to have done it at the end of 2022, probably.

Guitar Tabs don't sync to audio from video?

It’s not you (or your browser), it’s us. There are many threads on this already. Web team working on it. No eta.

    Fretboard seperation

Yeah, the strings have to come off. Maybe you can save them, since they're new.

    Life is But a Dream

Okay, so by now, most of you have heard Nobody and We Love You. A few more have heard/seen a live performance of Game Over, and a small handful were in Vegas with us this weekend and have heard the whole album. I'm gonna share some thoughts without getting too deep into it because some of it...

    Fretboard seperation

If the fretboard really is separating from the neck, the next step depends on how much money you have and how much the guitar is worth. If both are on the low side, you need a few clamps, some wood glue, a steady hand and patience. If the guitar was pricey, take it to a shop for an estimate.

    Surprise Las Vegas show

Yup. Maybe to hide the coming gray?

    Learning the basics

It is a long and typically slow process, and the beginning is the worst because you can feel like after six months you still don’t know anything and can barely play anything.

    Learning the basics

I play unplugged all the time. It just means you have to use your imagination more.

Guitar Practice outside of Syn’s School

Well, that's the thing - when you encounter a technique you need that you don't have, you learn it. If you can't play a part at full speed, play it at 25% or 10% until you can speed it up. I've got a lead part I've been working on for months. I've finally got it comfortable at almost 65%...

    We Love You (SPOILERS)

This is a 360 degree VR video experience for "We Love You" produced by the band. I suspect this comes in part from their "Immersive Experience" in Vegas this weekend. I'll be at the concert tonight (their first gig in FIVE YEARS) and the immersive experience Saturday afternoon, so I'll know...
