    Matt> I should’ve said dampened :). When I press on the string, it sounds muted, for lack of a better word. I haven’t played long enough (just started), to know how hard to press on the strings. For tuning, I have a KORG tuner…will that work? PG mentioned a tuner that goes on the guitar...

    When I go through the tuning lesson, how do you know how much pressure to put on the strings? When I tune, it sometimes sounds like the strings are “muted”, if you will. Is it just trial and error?

    You all make me feel old, lol! Just turned 39 and have never played before. I play clarinet and self-taught piano. My current guitar is a half-size acoustic that my SO had as a child. It was free and I wasn’t going to pass it up. Hoping to afford a new guitar some day. Excited to learn!!
