I LOVE bluegrass! Have been listening to the blue grass channel at work the last couple of days. I had no idea Dirks Bently played bluegrass, though...will have to look him up. The current country music scene isn't my deal...I grew up on Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, George Strait...anything...
I wonder if my finger can lift weights? ;) I will have to keep practicing and see if I can shore it up a little, haha. That's the hand I have grip issues with (getting old sucks, lol!) and so am working to keep it moving as it is. This will be a good thing to work on!
Will definitely work on that =). I did pretty good going between Em and G major but now we're on the struggle bus again. I'm working on finger positions tonight but have a long way to go. Thanks for the good advice!!
So after our discussion last night, I took the suggestions of curling my fingers more, being more on my finger tips, and playing one note at a time. And as suspected, I'm muting some strings. My fingers aren't as limber as normal people, due to any number of factors...and I'm doing stretching...
:D I'm mostly self-taught on piano but it's fun to play =). Trying to get good at the first page of Moonlight Sonata...it's slow going, lol!
Planning more practice tonight, so will report back if I can hear the difference (which I should, haha!) in the chords :D
Thank you!! :D
I will be hitting it hard again tomorrow night (heading to bed here shortly now), and will work on that technique! For someone who has an octave plus one reach on the piano, chords are sure challenging, haha! I will take a video tomorrow night of this technique and put it up...
It does!
I do sometimes...I keep adjusting my hand to try and get a clearer sound. Not sure if it's an age thing (SO says he got this when he was 8 and it was second hand then, so we think it's 40+ years old...) or me =). But I do sometimes feel a little vibration on that finger when I play...
I don't follow a lot of guitar players but I'm watching The Grand Ole Opry live on YouTube and they've got this gentleman named Tommy Emanuel playing. Holy cow. This dudes fingers are flying up and down the fret board of his acoustic in a blur. Is anyone else in awe some of the pickers out there?
Happy birthday, Jimmy!
Thank you for writing Fiction and So Far Away. The last three years those have been my go-to songs...and you know why. Thank you to A7X and the Sullivans for sharing his immense talent with us!!!
Thank you
Thank you!!
I will definitely work on changing how I play the chord...I was wondering if there would come a time I'd have to change that, haha! I'm bad about that sort of thing on the piano, too (self-taught for the most part), so don't want to develop those same bad habits on the...
