    What’s your BIGGEST dream with music?

    I mostly want to play for myself...I'm not good in front of an audience unless I'm with my clarinet =). But to be able to play a Johnny Cash tune or make up a tune of my own would be so awesome!

    Practicing the Em and G chords...first time playing along with PG successfully-ish. Realize now I've got the fingering wrong for the Em, but am still going to put this out there. I am always open to CC and hope I'm getting some good tone. All advice welcome as I embark on playing chords =)!

    Tonight: played first chord (ow...lol!), did not impress the cat with my new skill, continued work on Do Re Mi (Sound of Music) and actually played the first four bars in some kind of rhythm!

    Goals for the year: 1. Improve on guitar: I struggle with strumming and playing notes at the same time, and I want to improve that. 2. Learn to play a basic song: I've chosen Doe, a Deer from the Sound of Music 3. Figure how to pretzel my fingers and play cords while making my guitar not sound...

    I am very green, haha =)! I never thought about a metronome, but that makes good sense! I've done that with other instruments I play and it does help...and I will give it a try with the scales! Thanks for the good advice and I will keep you in mind for more questions!

    I haven't moved on from the major scale since I started it around the 11th =). That might be the advice I need: take a break from it and try something new...then I can come back to it. I did watch my video from the 11th and was surprised to see I had progressed some on it. Maybe I will try...

    Frustrated =(

    I'm learning the major scale...and I can play it slow. But any attempt to speed up, even a little, is a disaster. What am I doing wrong? Any tips for this beginner on how to improve here? CC always welcome!!

    Thank you! I feel you on the Barney theme...I don't have kids of my own but have nieces and nephews who watched it and worked in a group home for kids and Barney was overly popular in the early 2000s... ;).
