    How do you practice?

My practice of late usually involves some hand synch alternate picking excercises, Troy Grady's 'Pop Tarts' lick, the Sweating Bullets solo, a few seperate left and right hand excercises and riffing. One of these days I will get organized with an actual structured practice schedule.

    Tips on increasing picking speed?

This is what I have been doing, with the addition of triplets and making sure to accent the notes on the beat.

    Collab! FILMING!

I had better pull my finger out, I haven't looked at this since the last video I submitted....oops.

Turns out the solo for Megadeth's Sweating Bullets makes for a really good practice/warm up routine👍

Written vs video tutorials - which one and why?

For theory, I am a reader, having said that I can do videos when presented like the example below.

    This is an outrage #IstandwithJohnnyChrist

Well if I learned one thing today it's that Johnny Christ is the bassist of A7X, now I know almost all of them 😆

*ALL NEW STUDENTS PLEASE READ THIS POST*

Hire? I have no doubt there would be no shortage of people happy to volunteer their time to help out around here. Anyway, just put it out there as something to think about. I hate to think that people may be turned off using the forums or the lessons over something that is quite easily remedied.

*ALL NEW STUDENTS PLEASE READ THIS POST*

Just out of curiosity, what is the process involved with with verifying new accounts so that posts no longer need to be Mod approved? How long does that process normally take? You do a great job around the forums Jak, and as much as you 'run this joint' I can't help but feel that the forums...

    old school shredder

It was a good initiative, I'm not saying otherwise, it's just that people are more likely to take notice and read a message in their inbox than search a forum for information that they don't even know that they need to know.

    old school shredder

I imagine it should be possible to set up an automatic welcome message that is sent to new members with this info when they set up an account. They may be more likely to see and read that than the forum post. Also @Jak Angelescu I don't think the issue is you taking a break, it's that there is...

    old school shredder

There lies part of the problem. I was a moderator/admin on a gaming forum years back, we had a fraction of the members in comparasin to this site and we had 4 of us looking after things. It's a mammoth task for one person to take care of.

    old school shredder

I am going to play Devils Advocate and say that he raises some valid points (even though his form of expressing them is pretty dickish). If a new user to this site isn't informed of the post approval process, or other anti spam measures that may negatively affect their experience, I have no...

About Understanding and Reading Tabs – Lesson 5

To add to Ed's comment, with that particular sequence you reference, after hitting the 3rd fret on the E to transition to the 3rd fret on the A I 'roll' my finger from the E to the A. After fretting the 3rd fret on the E with the tip of my ring finger as normal, I then roll my finger down so...

Introduction to Crossover Picking – Lesson 38

I would say there is no hard and fast rule, it is really dependant on what you are playing and what works best for you. If you are playing the same group of notes forward and back (eg, frets 4 5 7 5 4 5 7 5 on a single string) it may be more efficient to leave the 4 and 5 anchored until you come...

How to get a7x amp tone?

No, they are all very different, much like guitars there are a multitude of different things that give each their particular voice. From speakers, cabinet wood and electronic components, all play their part. As Ed said, I would find a few different general purpose tones that you like and stick...

    Active vs. Pasive Pickups

If your pickups require a battery (used to power the built in pre amp) they are active. This gives a pretty good overview of the differences between the two.
