That's some nice riffage my man 🤟

What did you listen to ten years ago?

Stupid, clumsy fingers. Nothing much has changed for me, 10 years ago I was 34 and my musical tastes were already well established. A steady diet of Rock and Metal then as it is now.

Sounding pretty good, a little more work on the octave slides and palm muting and you will pretty much have it down. Great job!

    Learning new riff...technique advice

Could be played either way, although I would use alternate picking personally, it will save some energy for the following downpicked chord section. As a general rule if it's a power chord I downstroke, if it's single notes I alternate pick. There are some exceptions however, the intro to Master...

    Bohemian Rhapsody Solo

It's no Red Special and I'm no Brian May, but I think it's turned out ok anyway.

Sounds good Alicia! Tony actually plays this on the E and A strings at the 12th fret, keeps almost everything between the 10th and 12th frets making it much easier to move between chords. That's some fine chugging by the way!🤘

At the point of giving up.

Well it seems like you have already identified what your problem is, that's a good start. Wanting to play all your favourite songs as soon as you pick up the guitar is something I think everybody here can relate to, realising that it isn't that simple is something we work out very quickly also...

    Perfect record

Without putting a lot of thought into it, a few that come to mind..... Metallica - Ride, Puppets and Justice Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss Megadeth - So Far, So Good...So What (Rust In Peace was close but I regularly skip Dawn Patrol) Machine Head - The Blackening Morbid Angel - Blessed Are...

To lift the finger or to not lift the finger?

My finger lifts off too, doesn't even hang around, it wanders off on it's own little adventure before snapping back just in time to be useful again.

Wise words @Aileé Guerra Aréizaga, and so very true.

Let's talk Goals, dream guitars, stuff you look foreward to this year.

Hmm, not really after a dream guitar, but a reasonable 2nd guitar I can set up for heavier tunings, maybe a Schecter string through like an Omen or Demon. For playing, my main goal is to work on noise control/string muting while improving my scale knowledge and general technique/speed.

    Standard Tuning Rhythms

AC/DC - Hells Bells or Highway To Hell, because good ol' Aussie Rock'n'Roll. Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls, good for practicing your chugging and has some simple little lead fills too. Alice In Chains - Rooster, mix of modified barre chords, power chords and single note riffs.

    Beginner - Lesson 14

The 'x' normaly indicates a left hand muted note, to do it you simply rest a finger against the indicated string, when you play it it should create a percussive sound. Check out bars 7-8 in lesson 14, Papa Gates explains it there.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It is kinda challenging to keep things interesting and not repeating yourself to much when using a relatively small section of the fretboard, especially for that length of time. Extra kudos to you if you managed to sit through the whole five and a half minutes (y)
