So I'm currently unable to play due to health reasons, but I guess that means it's a good time to brush up on some theory! Hoping to get back into playing within the next few days, missing it so badly already!
Nice one!! The one thing I would really recommend is using a metronome, it's clear you know the notes but it will help you so much with getting a really good feel for where then notes fall into place, if that makes sense. Keep going, you've made a really good start! \m/
Thank you!! It's really funny you should mention The Last of Us, that was the one my brother chose when he briefly learned fingerpicking, might have to get him to teach me to give me another thing to work on lol.
This is super helpful!! I'll make sure I keep working on the hand placement a bit then just to try minimise the muting as much as possible! For my fretting hand, I don't think my thumb has ever really known what to do, it just kinda goes where it feels comfortable, and sometimes it works. It's...
Here's my first ever attempt at fingerpicking! It's something I never thought I'd find myself doing, so it's gonna be a long road of hard work to get somewhere, but I wanted to be able to show my progress as I keep working at it and improving, so here's the first step!
It's messy, it's...
So, I attempted fingerpicking today! It's seriously a lot tougher than I thought it would be, it looks so simple seeing people play it! I'll be properly working through the lessons on here starting from tomorrow and it's gonna be my little project for a while. I've recorded a first attempt of...
That was great! You looked really comfortable and like you were enjoying it, and you recovered fairly well in those transitions between the solos and riffs! Nice work!
Hey there, and welcome! This is a good start, especially using the metronome as this is a great habit to get into, so definitely keep it up! To answer your question, I think the video suggests to read the notes this way to help you familiarise yourself with the two different names the notes can...
Thank you! It's been really hard today honestly, but when I watched my other videos back and saw how we'll I've done in the space of two weeks, it really did push me to get it done. I'll keep working on those low notes, maybe going over old lessons may give me some ideas!
Long video alert, with a lot of rambling comments!
Honestly I was so close to throwing in the towel today with this, it's been a rough day mentally, my chest is killing me, but I really wanted to get this done. Massive thank you to everyone who left me advice and helped me get to this stage...
May or may not have just spent 45-ish minutes trying to record 10 full minutes of Not Ready to Die attempts, ready for posting.. Gonna take a loooooong time to upload to YT and all, but I'm super excited to share my progress! RIP my chest though, ouch XD
This is a great first step! You seemed to really be getting the hang of it from halfway through! One thing I will say, I know you said you were trying not to move the guitar so much, and this is good because it allows you to really get the movement in your wrist and fingers, but don't be afraid...
Not my best demonstration, but still an exercise I hope some will find helpful! Particularly good for the left hand, this focuses on hammer-ons and pull-offs that you can add to your solos to make them sound cool without too much work!
Just... don't do what I do and rush to try and get it...
Really nice work! Those bends were very good, and though there were a few mistakes, you did recover very well and kept going, which is always good. I think the vibratos could be a little better, really get your wrist moving. But otherwise a great effort!
