This is good man! Not sure if you already did, but I would recommend starting 10 or 20 bpm's slower, to where you feel relaxed. I read somewhere that a good rule of thumb is if you can play it 5 times perfectly IN A ROW, you should move the bpm up.
Obviously we have to get past our barriers so...
Hey guys! So I've been practicing every single day for at least an hour and a half, and it feels great to be consistent. I looked at economy picking a couple of times throughout the past year, but always got frustrated and gave up. Well not this time! I've decided that if I'm ever going to get...
What size picks do you use? I know it varies from person to person, but I'm just curious. I used to use standard, but I switched to Jazz 3's (or other brands but same size) 1.5mm 2 years ago and I haven't gone back.
I've been recommended to try those larger picks as they also offer speed...

Absolutely!! Feel free to message me any time, and I will do my best to be helpful. A lesson a day is a good strategy, IF you really focus on it each day. Some lessons will require more time than others to get a good grasp, but only you can hold yourself accountable for that. Best of luck!!
Start from lesson 1. Some people will skip around and pick lessons that they are most interested, and that is okay if you are a more established player. But if you're wanting to start from scratch, I'd recommend going in order- they have them listed in the way they think works best for us...
This is from a rough practice session. Spent about an hour doing it over and over- this is one of the better takes. At the end I was about to go back, but I felt called to noodle around a bit first. I very obviously hit a few wrong notes, but it is what it is 😎. I'll post other stuff in the...
Thanks man!! I love all of those solos, so I'll definitely check them out. Buried Alive used to be my favorite song, and I had learned most of it, but I was nowhere near the level I am now. Think I'll revisit that one first. Thanks again.
That sounds like an amazing method. I think I'll try that right now! Thank you so much for the advice. And yeah, you're right. Progress is slow, but just like lifting weights, you can't ever lift heavy if you can't lift light.
Up is up. Thanks again.
Thanks man! You're right, most of the self-titled dolls aren't as complex as the albums after, minus Afterlife and Scream I'd say. I'll try them out, and the Iron Maiden and and Burn Halo songs your recommended. Thank you!!
I've "been playing" for a few years, but I didn't start to take it seriously until 2 years ago. I'd say I'm intermediate at this point. I'm not practicing any songs at the moment, only exercises, and that's exactly why I made this post.
I'm particularly interested in sweeping and eco picking- I've looked at the lessons a few times to make sure I'm doing the motions right, but I began to feel bored after playing them over and over and over. Yet when I tried to incorporate those techniques in songs, I couldn't do it, as you've...
Hey Ids, thanks for your input! My favorite genre is metal, but the problem with that is that most solos I enjoy are too advanced for my level. If you know any songs that incorporate sweeping or have a good blend of techniques but isn't too hard, that would be perfect.
