    As long as what you're doing gets you closer to playing what you want & you've still worked your ears as much as you could, it's definitely not cheating. Cheating would be learning the tab off by heart and then pretending to someone that you transcribed it completely by ear :LOL:

    I think everybody's technique differs for improv but this is my two cents: If I was improvising over an Am backing track I would tend to use some A minor blues/pentatonic scale (Any of the 5 shapes), for a certain type of sound - Most of the work I do with this scale is letting my ears guide...

    how to sustain a note

    Good question! There are loads of possible solutions: 1. A strong consistent grip on the note 2. A distorted signal 3. A Compressor in your signal chain 4. An Ebow - this will give you everlasting sustain as it's a Guitar Gadget It really all depends on what you're aiming to do though

    I'd start at the very beginning like other people have suggested - If you're sitting there able to do/understand everything you cans see on-screen, then move on to the next lesson. Repeat this process for every lesson and you'll be exactly where you should be 🤓
