Syn's Afterlife solo technique, Rock am Ring 2006 solo technique

I think what he's doing is: (Downpick B, sweep to E, Up Pick E, Downpick E, Up pick E, Sweep back to B ) in a loop. Slowed down it's like a 1,2,3, 1,2,3, rhythm: It's really fun & easy once your hands are used to it! :giggle: apologies the demo was on acoustic, my fiance is asleep in the next room

    How do you practice?

For me it's always changing, I tend to go through phases of what I want to improve - the past month it was spent heavily on refining techniques, so I'll sit with a click and practice the same sweep over and over, trying to iron out any weak parts. But more recently I've been wanting to improve...

The Locrian Mode – Lesson 66

If you move the same pattern around when soloing over the same note or chord then it will change the Mode that you are using and might cause some dissonance/half step rubs between notes. For example if you're playing over a C Major chord and you move the Major scale pattern that you would use...

Thanks man! I'm sure my fretboard is Maple - maybe yours was rosewood or something like that? I have an Ibanez with a darker rosewood neck - I'm really not clued up on Guitar parts either haha

Nice one! The C Major scale is really tricky to solo with properly, so great job switching between positions in your lead playing! 👌

    SPARKLY NOODLE

This is me noodling with a Sparkly effect on my guitar - I've been experimenting with playing some soulful outside stuff and having the time sort of warped/Rubato. Tried to make my Guitar sound less like a Guitar too, enjoy!

Comment by 'Chris Johnston' in media '***Minor Home - Major Home - Small - Big - Small*** - Pentatonic Tip'

The Major & Minor Pentatonic are really the exact same scale shape, it's just about where you place it - If you start the scale from the 2nd note of the Minor Shape you're automatically starting from the Major shape (If that makes sense) So the 2nd note in that A minor shape that you know gives...

    Musical songs

If you've not watched Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Edition (The one with Alfie Boe in it) I'd highly recommend it - it's one of my favorite Musicals of all time. The whole musical uses similar themes for each song so it's all connected. It's far from the feel good story of the year but it's...

The Major Scale – Lesson 7

Great tip! I'd suggest once you're really confident doing it with your peripheral vision, to return to looking just at your fretting hand and getting used to finding the strings by feel, even if you have to slow down - as there is a lot more chances/places to miss a note on your fretboard if...
