    Songwriting

When I was in Nashville, we would write 2 (or 3) a day. You have writing appointments. A 3 hour session with another writer. 2 or 3 appointments a day. That is an extreme writing situation where you are employed by a publisher to write. It's your job. 5 days a week. Minimum 10 songs per week...

    CIRCLE OF FIFTHS!

I gave an overview of the cycle in my lesson. Trying to cover as much ground as I could in a short amount of time. ANYTHING you can do to dig deeper and enhance the information I provided is a good thing. I LOVE that you're finding and sharing these videos!

    Open and Closed-Back cabinets

Interesting! I have always preferred subs to be sealed. If I'm playing something beefy - like a Marshall, Bogner, etc., I obviously prefer sealed - esp if playing Drop D with a Les Paul so the low end doesn't get flabby. Conversely, if I'm doing pop or country with a Strat or Tele, I prefer an...

    CAGED System – The C Shape – Lesson 24

Exactly. Don't dwell on what I'm playing. I'm just showing some possibilities - and how I approach it. Once you understand the concept; chord shapes, arpeggios and pent scale - then it's your job to come up with your own things to play. Fool around with it. It's all a big game of "what if". What...

"The more I learn, the less I know", did you ever had this feeling?

With any subject, the more you delve into it, the more you find out you don't know. You can master something, (become proficient), but you can never know all there is to know. Once you have some technique and some knowledge of theory - then it's all about what you hear. Can you make your...

    Harmony/tutorial poll a

I voted for Douce Ambience. While the solo is not terribly hard, the chord changes are deceptively difficult to play over. When you try to jam over the changes, you will gain a much greater appreciation for his solo.

    Slide Guitar - Lesson 18

Yeah. Basically you can play an entire chord with the slide on one fret. There are also some soloing advantages - esp using a G tuning. D G D G B D. (drop the two E strings to D and the A string to G). The big advantage here is there is a minor 3rd between the top 2 strings instead of a 4th...
