    Traditional VS Tremolo Pickup?

Traditional or Tremolo pickup size is kind of antiquated at this point. It's just the magnet spacing. "Back in the day" when the magnets were weaker and had a narrower field, it was more important to get pickups for the right string spacing at the bridge/nut. The Fender ("F-Spaced") were like a...

Anyone ever heard of sammy boller on here?

Never heard of him, but that was pretty cool.

    Starting gear?

LOL. Yeah, it was a small local music store. They typically worked with the middle and high schools so students could rent violins and oboes and other shit they used in band and stuff, and so they rented old guitars and amps out, too. I think together it was $15/month and Mom thought that was...

    Starting gear?

I started in 1984 (ish) with a rented Fender Mustang and a tiny Peavey combo amp. The first guitar I owned was an Aria Pro II "Explorer" knockoff and a Sunn tube amp with a 1x12 and DOD Supra Distortion pedal. A couple years later, I bought my first "professional" guitar, a 1990 Ibanez RG550. I...

    Guitars

Your best bang for the buck is going to be finding a solid used Schecter or Ibanez with a Floyd. Lots can be had in good condition, and that keeps you out of the starter-guitar basement if you look at used-but-in-great-condition.

    Best metalcore album

I don't LOVE any of those 4, but add KSE's Alive or Just Breathing, and I'll vote for it. Change the Trivium to Shogun, too.

Im done with this unfruitful pursuit. Goodbye shredding for now.

If it's not fun, stick with what's fun. And musical. #WhatPapaSaid

What would you do different if you could start playing for the first time again?

Learn theory from the beginning. No shortcuts - meaningful practice sessions and discipline. It’s easier to say than it would have been back in the mid-80s, where I grew up and the socioeconomic class I was in, but that’s what I wish I could have done differently.

is the hellwin ir extention .wav?

No, and I’ve recently found out that these were NEVER shipped with non-AxeFX (wav) files. Apparently, I found a tool online and converted them to wav about a year ago and forgot, and the conversion is, shall we say, “less than accurate.” so, at this time, the Axe-FX cab pack is ONLY for Fractal...

    Happy Birthday young man Ed!

Thanks all! I miss that guy in the pic. He looked pretty good and hadn't a care in the world. That was exactly half my life ago at 27. Of course, the bottom fell out of EVERYTHING at 27, so...

    Synyster Gates guitar stripes

Others could speak up if they know more, but as near as I remember, there is no meaning. It was an attempt by the folks at Schecter to make the instrument more visually "Syn," and he liked it, so it stuck.

Breaking everything down to basics to fix shit that’s been broken for 35 years. It sucks but it’s working.

    the third day of practice

It is a LONG road and you have nothing to be embarrassed about. If guitar was easy, everyone would do it. It’s a LOT of work, so set proper expectations!
