It really is! It's really motivational, too, I normally struggle to stick to things but coming on here, seeing all the progress and receiving all the advice has really pushed me to keep going.
Thank you!! I'm hoping to be able to show it tomorrow, and I'm really excited about sharing it because I feel I've come along so far with everyone's help!
Here's a little speed picking exercise that you can add into your warm-ups to help improve with alternate picking, strength in your 3rd and 4th fingers, or just switching notes and strings!
The notes are 10-7-9-10-9-7, and this is played on every string, going down. You could also go up if you...
Back to practising this morning. Finally added in the final third of the intro before the main riff, got a little bit of string buzz on the bottom two notes used but I'm working on getting rid of this. Managed to get my arm to relax a little more too, so playing is a bit more comfortable, and my...
So I know I said I was gonna upload an exercise tutorial today, but I've decided I'm gonna do it tomorrow instead for various reasons and take today as a bit of a rest.
Thank you! I think my strings are okay, they're much better and lower than my other guitars, so it's a lot easier to play. I wouldn't really know if they needed to come any lower in case they start buzzing though.
I'm certainly gonna see what I can do today to make it more comfortable, probably need to move where I sit as it's a fairly tight corner. Once I get a new strap sorted, I'll see how I feel standing up. Thank you!
This sounds like it could be really useful, I'd love to see the video when you're able to send it (No rush, of course!) and I'll be eager to give it a shot! The pick thing has always been one of my issues to, so I'm gonna keep working to see what works best! Thank you!
Alongside my Not Ready To Die work tomorrow, I'm planning on re-recording a little lesson I once posted forever ago and I'm gonna delve into a lot more detail, now that I've gotten the confidence to start talking in videos! It's a speed picking exercise that I'm working back into my practice...
This was really good! I think your timing needs a little bit of work, but you've got the notes down so it just needs a little bit of tidying up. Really good effort!
In that case, that'll be my focus for tomorrow! I think it's because I'm so used to downpicking, so anytime I do it, I kinda instinctively go back to it. Time to break some old habits lol. Thank you!!
That work has really payed off, that's for sure! I think the only thing holding you back is your confidence, and that's completely understandable. Just keep going!
Nice one dude, awesome first riff!! You've got some really good bends and slides going on there, and that finger picking section was great! Also some really nice vibrato there too. A great effort, keep it up!

Continuing from yesterday! So, there's still a lot of work to be done here. I've identified my new biggest issue, and that is my arm locking up. Watching over the video, I can see how badly it's affecting because a. The sweeps are not as clean as I thought and b. my arm is aching from being...
Spending this morning writing down all sorts of notes for me to keep by my amp so I can keep them in mind during my practises, and also annotating my physical tabs so I can visualise the picking patterns. This ended up really helping, as I've realised I might be picking No Ready to Die slightly...
