Chord name? Lil help would be nice
Id's nailed it. Just a plain old A9. Add 9 would not have a b7 in it. As soon as you add the b7 it becomes a dominant chord. I don't know why - but we don't call any chords dominant in their name. A7, A9, A13 - are all dominant. If you change the b7 to a natural 7 or major 7 (in this case a G#)...- Brian Haner Sr.

Returning to music after a lot of years away
I've been moving across country and haven't touched a guitar in about 6 weeks. Probably as long as I have ever gone without playing in 50 years. I've taken a week or two off, but never this long. Everyone has their own approach. Kurt clearly didn't spend a lot of time on his chops - BUT - he did have some chops and he did know some chords. He didn't create himself in a vacuum. It's kind of like getting the same haircut as someone else. The real "character" is in the shape of the face, the features, etc. So yes - you can emulate another player (and that's not a bad thing) - but it will always be filtered through you and end up sounding more like you than them. Pentatonic scales
Yes. The Major scale is the same as its relative minor and vice versa. So a C Major pent scale can be used over an Am chord and an A minor pent scale can be used over a C Major chord. Make sense?- Brian Haner Sr.
