    Congrats on getting such a badass guitar man! I don't have a custom S, but any good quality 9v battery should work. My JC bass has an active pickup and I currently use an energizer 9v battery, it works perfectly!

    From my experience, satin finishes are just a little harder to maintain because you can't clean them with just any material, but I have a bunch of gloss finished Syn customs and a JC bass/ ZV guitar with satin finishes and they are all great. You should get the one that you like more personally...
