    Anything Marty Friedman does. I just love the way he layers his guitars. The tonic and third (pretty standard) then the octave above and below of both of those. As far as good examples of that would go: Miracle, Dragon Mistress, Undertow… John Petrucci has some pretty cool stuff going on too...

    Don’t go for EMGs… Go for passive pickups! And get yourself a PRS Standard 24 or 22. Those have amazing quality no matter which price range you’re looking at.
