    I over exaggerated the picking like that too at first. I still see some economy picking but it takes time to get upstroke string skipping down. What i did to see if i was playing it right is when i get back to the big E string it should start and end with a downstroke.

The economy picking etude 1 is basically the same as the alt picking 1 etude slid up a few frets and a different pattern on the high and e and b strings to begin...

    haha. wasn't trying to complicate it. its something i noticed i was doing as well and its better to catch bad habits early on. usually my mistake was doing 2 upstrokes from the last high e note to the b string. i slowed it down and made that a point of emphasis to truly "alternate pick" this...

    It looks like youre economy picking more than alternate picking. The last note should be a down stroke. I had trouble with that at first and really focused on ending the riff on a downstroke.

    String Recommendation

    im wondering what gauge he uses for standard E tunings. Im running 10-52 on my syn custom in standard E tuning. The problem i have is that with only 2 heavy duty springs i have to adjust the claw screw to near max tightness and with 3 springs it feels like alot of tension when using the whammy bar

    How many times have you seen A7X live?

    just once unfortunately ... but it was at warped tour in NY right after Waking The Fallen came out. i remember i listened to WTF in hot topic and put everyone i knew onto A7X. got Shadows autograph on the ticket at warped as well.
