    Figuring out a guitar part by ear, having trouble

    It sounds like they are using natural harmonics over the neck. EVH did this a lot and that's the first thing I thought of. I would definitely watch EVH harmonics on the neck vids on YouTube to really grasp this. The other part sounds like a standard pentatonic weedly haha. Hope this helps : )

    I would suggest listening to it and practicing along with it till you get it right. But what will help is slowing the track down and humming along with it. When I struggle with learning a part I do that and it helps greatly. Hope it helps.

    Well, first you should let us see the 4 versions and second you should watch live footage of Syn playing it and use your ears to distinguish which version sounds the closest. Ear training is key.

    He is using the bar mixed with the harmonics on either the second or third fret. He also uses the Sustaniac to get the screams too, however I think it's the bar and harmonics. : )

    He used Invaders always. Then the Synbuckers. The Detonators are just for the cheaper versions of his guitar because those pickups are Duncan designed which you can't get on the aftermarket.

    Hey guys! Looking for recommendations for a guitar

    A Good guitar would be a BC. Rich Mockingbird. I have a trans blue FR one with Seymour Duncan indvaders in it and it Obliviates ANYTHING in its path. Aside from my three Syn Custom S's :) A Schecter Hellraiser is a solid choice especially if you get a FR with it.

    Thoughts on that new 7 stringed beast?

    I believe that this is a big adjustment as whenever I see Syn I think of the "Badass Striped Guitar". Owning 3 Syn Customs (2 having the Sustaniac) getting used to seeing this is a big pill to swallow. However, This is probably going to be used only for this song and I hope that's the case...
