I own a Marshall Dsl40c and well I don’t like the sound of it I really don’t know how to describe it so I’ll be attaching the files below two links. My settings on the Marshall are pretty standard. I’ve messed around with the settings a lot Treble 6 Middle 7 Bass 7. I think that the amplifier is the main source of the tone that I don’t like.. I also have an ESP Horizon II with invaders on the bridge.
I also realize that syn is definitely using a studio recording gear while I just use a Zoom H2n recorder and put it on the amp roiiiight but I definitely don’t like the tone of mine I would just in general want a better metal one. Fuller, richer, softier but still a beast.

Getting a bigger cab like a 2×12 should make it fuller sounding and you can use it for other amps if you want more later but for actual amps is it possible for you to try some at a guitar store? That’s probably the best way to tell if you’ll like one but if not maybe look up the gear of some bands that have a tone you like? My friend has a peavey 6505 and I like how it sounds and there’s a combo version. I hope you end up getting a tone you like!

I use a peavey bandit 112 with a Sheffield speaker, it’s a beefy amp that can do pretty much any tone, I use it for heavy metal, praise and worship, blues, funk, etc. So basically it can do anything extremely well, it takes a little playing with.

I use the Line 6 Spider V, and while they get a lot of crap, I find that the ability to edit and create your own tones goes a lone way. The stock metal tones aren’t great, but you can create better ones. And it’s pretty affordable, otherwise I’d go with the AxeFx from Fractal like Syn uses.

First thanks for all of the replies. I may not know a lot about amplifiers except the Marshall brand and specifically the Hellwin haha so basically I really have to do some research. Can anybody out of you tell me like the difference between these two tones that I have made a comparison I do not know what my amp has more or less than the other amp just so I can tell to someone in the store what I’m kinda looking for and what not. And just to be correct that kind of my tone is because of the amp mostly (I have invaders and mahagony body in guitar) and that marshall dsl40c is not for heavy metal?
