Any tips for Syns solos?

If I could give any tips for any of his solos, it would be to work up on your chromatic fingering exercises. He has a lot of tricky fingering positions in his solos and he favors a lot of chromatic work. I’m not familiar with that solo enough in particular, but I know that chromatic work in general helped me with hail to the king, scream, Bat country and nightmare. I’m sure it would help you too
Also I think the biggest tip I could give for learning any of his solos, is to really slow them down with either YouTube or a slow downer program, and really listen for the rhythmic count of what he’s doing. Hes very interesting when it comes to the rhythmic aspect of his solos. If you don’t know the exact rhythm of what the leads are doing, you will never be able to get it right. So be patient with yourself and dissect it as best as you can. And like Andrew said, played as slow as humanly possible and make sure you get the rhythmic timing of the solo part right before you move on. 99% of the problems I had with learning any of his solos was because I didn’t understand the rhythmic concept behind a certain part. Once I got it down, I could improve substantially faster. Don’t forget to post your video so we can see your progress!!!

Jak and Andrew both nailed it. If i were to add one thing to this when it comes to playing ANY of his solos, it would be to use Vibrato like crazy. I’ve seen Syn tell others multiple times to really bring out the vibrato when you are playing solos. Cause he uses it like crazy…in almost all of his solos. So don’t be afraid to overdo it.

I imagine this solo is less theory as its on waking the fallen. I believe he did school just after that. I could be wrong tho. However you can definitely hear his usual notes in there. Id say look at the solo video from long beach. That may have the best angles of how hed play it now.

Hey Jaylen. Theres an app called Capo https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/capo-3/id696977615?mt=12 I actually use this to learn my own solos when we are playing a new song or something we haven’t played in a while. It slows down the excerpt you’re trying to learn without a lot of unwanted artifacts. It has many other functions as well. Have fun
