Ive been playing guitar for close to 10 years, im started when i was 12, im 21 now. Now that i finally have time (work has been crazy) to follow the site and use the lessons, im noticing a lot of bad habits especially with my alternate picking! So my question is, do i just break the bad habits by powering through practice and slowing way down? Or is there another way?

Yeah, Just See it as a totally "new" exercise. Start slowly and you'll notice it's gonna be a little uncomfortable at first. But you will get there pretty quick.

If I have to get used to a new Thing I try to get the Basic fingering and Motion down and then I practice it while watching a movie for example. It's pretty effective

The best way to break bad habits is to treat it like you're starting from.the beginning. It can be a little bit hard to do so but it's definetely worth it! So yes, go slow with a metronome and gradually increase speed.
