Whattup Folks!

I was playing some random chords today and one sounded interesting. The notes I played where A, C#, G and B. By that formula (the A, C# and G) I know its an A dominant 7...but the B is throwing it off.....what would that be know as? Adom7 add 9?...because an Add 9 is just the normal chord(1,3,5 formula) plus the 9(2)th note of that scale?

Anyways that is my lil' question!

Thanks!

Id's nailed it. Just a plain old A9. Add 9 would not have a b7 in it. As soon as you add the b7 it becomes a dominant chord. I don't know why - but we don't call any chords dominant in their name. A7, A9, A13 - are all dominant. If you change the b7 to a natural 7 or major 7 (in this case a G#) then you would have an AMaj9.
