So, since it’s just one element in the tone stack, everything else can be tweaked. I had started out with the Hellwin 4×12 when I bought the full, all-inclusive cab pack (it hadn’t yet been broken up to smaller groupings for cheaper yet!), and I settled on that mostly because tonally it worked best with the tone I already had. When I tried, for example, the Iso or Stage cabs, they were thin and sounded terrible.
Mind you, when Syn says he used the Hellwin for HTTK and The Stage, he means the actual Hellwin cabinets, not a model. Syn only switched to Fractal about six months or so ago.
When another member asked for a demo of the Iso cab, I took the time to tweak the tone for it – less than 10 minutes, really – and I found I really liked that cab overall, and switched to that setup full-time. With the Hellwin and Boner cabs, I preferred the 5153 Blue head, and with the smaller 1×12 cabs (the Iso and Stage cabs) I prefer the 5153 Red.
The 5153 Red is the model in the Fractal that Syn’s own tone is built from in the AxeFX3, so you can go from there if you really want to get that Syn tone.
