Dorian mode

Could someone explain how the Dorian mode is used over jazz cord progressions? I understand that the mode has a flatted 3rd and a flatted 7th in the scale. I tried playing around with the scale and i don’t hear the jazz tones in it.

In jazz a ii-V-I chord progression is as common as a I-V-VI(12 bar blues) in blues. Because the tone center will be the ii chord Dorian will work very good over those chords. Try playing over Autumn leaves maybe that will help you! Also usually there are turn around a in the chord progression so the same scale will usually not work over the whole progression.
