While I was playing I randomly started thinking about Double harmonic scales and I kinda figured after a while (this scale is kinda weird) that when you play a double harmonic major scale it’s fourth mode is the double harmonic minor scale (which is more known as hungarian minor). Besides this you have a bunch of modes namely:
1 double harmonic major
2 lydian #2 #6
3 ultraphrygian
4 hungarian minor
5 oriental
6 Ionian #2 #5
7 Locrian bb3 bb7
The codes for these would be
1 b2 3 4 5 b6 7 8
1 #2 3 #4 5 #6 7 8
1 b2 b3 b4 5 b6 bb7 8
1 2 b3 #4 5 b6 7 8
1 b2 3 4 b5 6 b7 8
1 #2 3 4 #5 6 7 8
1 b2 bb3 4 b5 b6 bb7 8
8 is simply the octave
Hope this helps anyone who’s interested in this stuff!

Very interesting that you should post about this! Earlier in the day I posted up in my Instagram story about how I’m dissecting the Hail to the King solo and trying to learn what scales it could possibly be using I came up with the B Byzantine scale, the B Double harmonic and of course the B Hungarian minor. Great minds think alike!

Yeah i saw that one. I have kinda used the D double harmonic major scale in the solo in this song https://youtu.be/eVkhO4iSIDY. I also have asked Syn about the scales he uses and he says he throws a bunch of them together(diminished, harmonic/melodic minor, Double harmonic major(hungarian minor), super locrian) it was mostly focused on gypsy jazz stuff buto I’mean sure he uses the Greek modes aswell. Double harmonic major is also called Byzantine btw
