A while ago I started playing with a new pick and it had much more grip than my old ones.
So I wonder how often do you start using new picks? Or do you wait until you loose one?
Usually I start using a new pick (of the same kind) when the point isn’t really a point anymore. Recently I started using a Wegen 3.5 mm twin for acoustic because Syn said it works great for gypsy jazz and he was right!
I use ultex jazz III 2.0 on electric by the way and don’t think I’m gonna change anytime soon!
If I don’t want to try out something new I don’t really change my pick. I don’t loose it or at least recover it fast again so I’m fine. Oh and when playing acoustic with a pick I use a different kind mainly because it looks nicer lol.
I usually buy 3-4 same picks and have them on the table and I just choose the one that’s nearest to me. I only change the pick if I want a softer sound; then I use a .73mm pick otherwise I just stick to the 1.14
Haha I’m a weirdo…I use a different pick every week..but not purposely, just whatever I’m feeling. I have a stupidly large pick collection, mainly because I like to try different types..but there’s only 4 in my weekly rotation lol
I have my favorites but usually retiring a pick for me means I lost it. I have about 150 of them in my guitar case and they just kind of accumulate lol. Every time I go to guitar center I’ll pick up a pack no matter what and so I’ve got a little bit of everything. Most interesting I’ve picked up yet is from Snark and they’re called “Sigmund Freud’s Celluloids”. Really good picks actually and they come with a file to keep old picks sharp.
lol, e verytime I pick up a guitar I use a new one. I also will change it if I dont like the shape.. sometimes you get one thats definitely not meant to be there. If I dont like how I’m playing too I’ll toss the pick start again and that usually is enough of a distraction to forget why I was strugging lol.
