So I'm working on the opening riff to "Fix You" by The Offspring. I found 2 of the power chords that are being picked, and I found one more note but there's another one in there that I can't quite hear with everything else going on. Anyone know of any programs or EQ settings that can bring out a guitar a bit more? Ideally, there would be a program that could let me completely isolate the guitar. Thanks.

Yes there is a plug in that can completely isolate guitar track or other audio sound however they are complicated to use and also they are very expansive. Like really, one of my teacher uses one and gave us the example that he used it to clean up audio footage for a court case. Mind you that he runs a studio professionally. He knows what he's doing.

And yeah I mean, if you want to hear the guitar more clearly, you can always play with the EQ and try to cut as much as you can while trying to keep the guitar clean. I mean, you're not going to have a crystal clear guitar track but that just might do the trick for what you need it! Basically what Ids said, you'll mostly find the guitar in the mid range so yeah!

Other than that there is the classic ''Karaoke'' cutting vocals technique that could make the guitars more audible but its still not a fully clean technique or other different mixing technique that im not fully familiar with that can help cancel out some tracks and make the guitar more audible

well the opening riff is pretty isloated by itself and each chord that is picked has the same amount of notes i believe so it shouldn't be that hard to figure out which notes are being played. You can easily solve this by looking at some tabs and you'll figure it out. EQ-ing won't really help you cause you are not only going to boost the guitars but also the vocals and the pad/string that plays in the background. (maybe that pad is confusing you or the piano that comes in later but you can hear all the notes in the first 45 seconds)

I'm trying to do it all by ear. I would use tab as a last resort. I'll keep at it. I was also asking in general for future songs.
