Hello, I’m looking for a set of humbuckers to install into my Ibanez. I want something that has to create the nice warm tones of 50s and 60s rock and blues, but I want something that can handle heavy distortion. If you have any recommendations please comment below?
The Tone Zone and Air Norton have become a favorite combo among Ibanez players for a number of years. The Tone Zone has been around for decades – I dropped one into my 91 540R in 91 or 92 and loved it – it stayed in there until I started experimenting about 8 or 9 years ago. I tried EMGs (too sterile) and finally went with Steve Vai’s Gravity Storm set as a solid, all around pickup set for both my Ibanez.
Ibanez does sell some mid- and high-level guitars with the Tone Zone/Air Norton combo pre-installed. It’s a good set.
I think the JB could be a good pickup for that. Also APH-02. These are both Seymour Duncan’S. You could also look into this https://www.seymourduncan.com/pickup-selector-step-2?setup_index=0
Checking out syn’s pickups also can’try really hurt but I think they are pretty high Gain pickups not completely sure though.
I can recommend what was recommended to me, Seymore Duncan has a pickup configurator where you can choose your preferences and it will show you a fitting set
