Yeah. In a fire. He basically played with 2 fingers.I started learning minor swing and I've been really enjoying it. I'll have a watch tonight . Didn't Django loose functionality of some of his fingers? He plays so well even so. I have no excuse! Thanks PG
It is soooo fun. As jazz goes - it's harmonically MUCH easier than bebop. Get familiar with major & minor arpeggios and a diminished scale - and boom - you're up and running. And obviously - there's a ton of room to shred. Not to mention - it's acoustic. There's no place to hide. It will build your chops up quickly.Just watched it last night, really interesting... Some really tasty licks and melodies, makes me want to get into it a bit to be honest. And gotta say theres a lot of shredding there, impressive too.

Don't forgot the colors, the seconds and sixths make your solo sound a bit more gypsy, especially if you do a semitone bend up to them.Thanks for the tips on wich scales to look for Papa Gates, I need to get more into the genre so I can try to improvise a bit, but I tried to play the first licks of the Minor Swing and it was really fun to play! Just realized tha Syn played that on the Guitar Center Master Class after listening to the song, never knew what he was playing before

I struggled with that for years while I knew the scales/arpeggios.
Syn's master class solos, both in rock and gypsy jazz were incredible! Whenever I want some inspiration I go straight to them! LIstening to him playing gypsy jazz at guitar centre was the first time I heard gypsy jazzz and made me fall in love with it instantly, then I went straight to a Django playlist haha.
