Hi I'm new here. I've been playing guitar about 2 years (but still suck). I hope u guys can help me improve my play style. However i would like to ask a simple question. How do you guys learn a song. I mean u guys read a tab or just hear it?

Really appreciate for those who can help me.

As for your question, If I want to learn something rather quickly I mostly Just look Up Tabs because learning by ear (and by seeing the Person Play) is really tedious for me. But definetly a good exercise! So I'd definetly recommend by ear If you can!

Hello, welcome! Papa Gates recommended to first try to learn a new song by ear. Personally, that's what I try to do at first, sometimes by slowing the song down, but I use tabs when I can't figure everything out by ear (Songsterr is the best for that) which is most of the time, but you have to keep in mind that the tabs are flawed and you have to trust your ears to find what you think is right. Also, using good tabs allows you to work on your rhythm.
