I’ve been playing guitar for about 6-7 seven years now self taught and I try learning on the website but I can’t tell where I’m at and where I should start
I think the best advice would be to comb through the lessons from the beginning and see if there’s anything you do not know or want to know. You do not have to do the lessons in order though, so if you look through and see a technique that piques your interest give it a shot !

I have been playing for 8 years, self taught as well and I started from the beginning. Sure you can skip the ones that tell you how to hold a pick and all those things but to be honest, I learned a lot from the beginner corner even thought I was very advance. I would be warry about jumping too much into the lessons randomly as there are some concepts that are seen in the beginner section that are developped further as you go along. And some of them are really hard.

So yeah, I second Alicia! Go through the beginning and take your time with them! Even the most basic thing can teach the most advanced something. Dont discredit the beginner lessons. I would say that the curriculum of this school is very well made!

Ask yourself some questions to begin with and figure out where you are right now: Which are your goals on guitar now? Do you want to learn theory or improve your technique? Just play for fun?

If it's theory what you want to learn, go to the beginners lessons. In my case, I've been playing for 3 years, I wanted some theory and exploring the CAGED system helped me understand the fretboard and how chords and scales are connected. These lessons have been very useful.

If what you really want now is technique, jump into the picking techniques lessons.

If you want both, then make a combo of theory and practice. That's what I'm doing now

If you just want some fun playing, take a song you like and just play it, study it and try to figure out what's going on in that song: how theory applies, which techniques are used, jam to it and find the scales...

Remember you can ask your questions in the discussion thread of each lesson. There'll always be someone willing to help.

    Hope it helps :rock-hand:

I would start from the beginning, see if there is something in particular of the basics that you maybe left behind a little, and then go on from there. If there is any particular technique or theory piece that you want to learn you can also jump to those lessons and try. All of the lessons are always there for you so feel free to check whatever you feel like doing that day!! 😁

Everyone else pretty much nailed it haha. Ill add extra emphasis on the beginning lessons though. Ive been playing for 8-9 years and there’s things in there that helped me better my technique and showed some bad habits and helped me correct them!

Also, dont just practice sitting down, practice standing up also. Just cause you can do it sitting down doesnt mean you can standing up! Thats all i have for that, man, good luck!
