Help with HTTK solo

    Hey guys,
    I need some help with the part in the solo, 3:39-3:43. I have been playing that part with alternate picking along with the sweep picking added. I can get it relatively fast, but I an having some trouble. Is that part supposed to be played using alternate picking with sweeping or economy picking with sweeping?

    I’m pretty sure that’s economy picking actually. As soon as you see a 3-1-3 kinda pattern you can economy pick it. Especially the part where you go back down to the a string is definitely economy picked. The way up is kind of alternate picked until you get to the g string.
    At least that’s how I do it.

    Agree with Ids, based on:
    1. Jak’s breakdown and explanation, after literally years of analysis
    2. Syn’s propensity for economy picking, and desire to use it whenever it makes sense (it makes sense in the spot you’re asking about)

    I just listened to the part that you’re talking about and yes, there is one spot where it does a little tiny sweep but it is economy picked. It’s very tricky to get that part right with economy picking especially on the top three strings of the g, b, e and then especially when it descends right there. Just keep working on it and you’ll get it! I’ve been having a lot of people asking me to do the tutorial for the solo and I might have to break down and finally do it sometime soon
