hi, i’m faiq
i’ve been planning to buy my first electric guitar which is a gibson les paul, but i have no idea on what amp i should buy.
can anybody tell me what’s the best HOME amplifier & effects that sounds similiar with syn’s tone and also not so loud so i won’t disturb my neighbour? (dont mind about the budget)
thank you!
It all depends on your budget. The Roland cube or Yamaha TRX sound pretty great and aren’t that expensive. I also heard some good things about the boss katana line. You may need to get some pedals too if you want to get close to Syn’s tone. Reverb, delay and a distortion pedal for example. The amptweaker by tightrock gets fairly close to Syn’s tone on Nightmare.
Of course you could also save up for an Axe-fx III
I use the Boss Katana 50, has a 0.5w and 25w setting for when you need to keep things quiet, plus it is loaded with on board effects and heaps of setting options with the Tone Studio, budget friendly too. There are a few options for footswitches for channel changes also.
@Adin that seems like a good amp. I have Roland Cube 30 no and without headphones its loud (except for clean). So im looking for amp that i can set watts lower. Is the amp good for metal sounds?
Questions I’d ask myself.
Can I play without noise complaints? Do I need headphones? Do I want effects? Do I wanna record?
Thise themselves will answer whether you should aim for digital or tube amp. My advice. Go to the store and tell them what you need the amp for. they will help find you the best fit.
PRS MT15 probably. If you can afford a Gibson as your first guitar this should be fine. Great distortion and cleans in a low wattage. Good price for what you get.
@kim, yeah, you can pretty much get any sound you want out of it. Lots of user patches you can download too. I also have the 3rd party Librarian app so I can plug my phone into it to access the patches and settings I would normally need the PC for.
To get an idea of the sounds you can get out of it check THIS GUYS patches out.
He offers free patches from time to time too.
