Try playing without a pick. Play everything lightly. Instead of picking your notes with your right hand (picking hand), try just fretting them with left hand (picking hand). Try your best to be quiet while playing and it can actually benefit in unexpected ways. Hope this helps.
Unfortunately the only thing you can do is use a lighter pick and not hit the strings very hard. It’s just controlling the dynamics of your instrument with your own body instead of the volume knob. It totally suck but I’ve had to do it plenty of times, too :-/
Avoid holding the pick too tight to avoid the clicking noise when you hit the string. If you try this on an electric without amp, you can feel the amount of noise that you are creating. Gently hold the pick.
