I havn’t contributed to this challenge because it’s above my skill level. But this time you chose a backing track I’m playing over everyday for a while now. So my video is not really part of the challenge but I’m improvising over the same backing track. So I thought why not put it here?
Day ten of improvising over the D C backing track- lesson 29

Dont let anything hold you back. Even if its’ not right, it sounds good, and when you get more familiar with the scales, you can make it better. Thats what I did. I usually play out first, then look back, and analyze how it went. Figure out where I wanted to go, and where I should have ended up. Easy to fill in the holes, you usually get the general idea down even if you aren’t playing the correct notes. Atleast, this is how I have had to do it for the longest time. It’s getting easier these days to get it right the first time tho.
I might have time tomorrow night to do this challenge. I have an idea in my head but I’ve had issues making time to really learn the other side of the. The good news is for me in D standard, I dont really have to make as big a change as I thought I did.

My problem is if it comes to modes I’m a bit clueless at the moment. I’m not really caring about modes at the moment. I haven’t even started lerning the minor scales. I mean, I know how it works but I haven’t worked on using them. I am only playing over backing tracks for about 13 days yet.
I will participate if the backing tracks you chose are something I can work with easily at the moment and if I have the time.
Thank you so much for your kind words This community is so awesome!

Week 2. D and C

Week 2 is done. I did this at 3am. I didn’t expect to be up so late.. but the editing wasn’t working so I stopped and finished that this morning. Nothing fancy by any means, but I want to line up my patterns first before I start trying to shred up and down the board on the spot. At the end I kinda try to just do whatever in two runs, lemme know what you think.
HOnestly I only added the rhythm part because of my cat in the background. She’s fucking hilarious.

I gave Jen the option or atleast I did on her video. If she doesn’t wanna pick one I’ll pick this weeks. I have a couple ideas but I’d rather her do it because I’d been enjoying getting a scales I’ve never touched before. Even if the work is limited, its a start, and those scales are actually in my head I could play the licks from last weeks improv video without looking at my scale map this week, and I feel the same about this weeks. So its definitely sticking. Lets keep it going.

CAGED System – Playing Over Three Chords – D C & G – Lesson 30

I’m picking this one. I’m not sure you how guys are going to do it. But I’m going to do a Gmajor scale run to this. You can do it whatever way you want. I was honestly trying to find something in G minor but I dont think there is a video I know atleast that has it. G minor seems to be one of my favourite scales. I use it in a lot of my songs.

Well, im not even sure if I stuck to the scale I said I would. But I tried to follow G around the fret board. Some parts are sloppy. And I only made it 3 minutes or the 4.. so dont listen to the last minute lol. I didn’t delete it oooops. I wanted to try to do something a little more shreddy because I had a very unnecessary comment on my video on facebook last week and I wanted to shut that guy up lol. This was literally one take. I didn’t plan for it to be. It just happened. This is also my Revenger. I love this guitar so much.

richard im not the best at improving either, I encourage everyone to push themselves. Even if you are just playing the scale at 180 BPM to the back track, get it in your head and play it out. The next time you do that same scale, you’ll be going 210 bpm without even trying.. and yeah. Gets easier.

@calvin I just watched your improv and it sounds a bit like your just playing a bunch of notes pretty fast and resolve on a note at the end. Whatever a guy on Facebook says try to get a cool melody going and pay some attention to the color tones. This makes it a lot more interesting to listen to and in between the meloldies you can always find space to shred a little. Keep it up!
You should probably ignore the guy on the Facebook It’s better for you!
