Is the half-diminished scale actually the major scale of the root 1/2 step above it?
So for example D half diminished=D# major, E half dimished=G major, B half-diminished=C major
Am.I wrong thinking this or not?
No. A Locrian scale is the same as the major scale a half step above it. So a B Locrian scale has the same notes as a C Major scale. Technically, the half-dim scale is a Locrian with a natural 2nd – as opposed to a regular Locrian which has a flatted 2nd. The half-dim scale is the 6th mode of the melodic minor scale.
