Basically lately I don’t have a lot of time to really play guitar because a combination of studying and my social life. Usually when I get home my brain is fried and I just kinda noodle and I noticed a couple things.
1. When I play a septatonic scale(let’s take A phrygian here) slowly I economy picking everything but rest strokes on the 2 note per string part. However, when I go fast I economy pick everything but kinda do legato/hammer ons/pull offs on the 2 note per string part.
2. Figuring out ways to economy pick whole scales is a really nice way to find new licks.
3. Playing with your fingers can really give an amazing percussive effect(a slap so to speak)
4. Noodling really helps me to find melodies and chord progression a I like
5. (Half-)diminished chords/arpeggios sound really awesome when used right
6. Playing around with other people’s chord progressions but change them in some way(embellishments, tempo etc) can really sound cool and amazing
I probably can find more things when I noodle again. If I need to elaborate on any of these just ask!
