So im curious as to what your guys’ most out of the ordinary song you’ve ever learned? What i mean by that, the most out of your normal genre’s of music? Like say you play metal mostly and you learned a reggae song And did that genre become a favorite of yours?

I have been spending the last month or so learning songs from some anime fingerstyle, as weird as that may sound. There are plenty of beautiful melodies out there that I wanted to take a crack at no matter where they came from. A few of note are "Sadness and Sorrow" and "Red Swan" from Naruto and Attack on Titan Respectively. Prior the learning the former I had absolutely zero fingerstyle experience and it has absolutely changed my perspective of the guitar. To giver some perspective, I generally play rock and metal lead.

Went through my old YouTube and I learned 3 bands or well 4. Motley crue a7x Alice in chains and saves the day. They all basically share the same ideas. They may sound different but all 5 bands wrote songs through amazing melody and riff creation. Avenged has just taken so many steps above the other 3. Including aic. I love jerry and he's a riff king and a blues specialist. But if I had to choose I'd be picking syn. Altho indefinitely love Jerry's bends. You definitely hear them in my playing over syns.

Not songs but different pieces of songs that stand out in riffs and licks I've learned. The clean part in Soothsayer by Buckethead sticks out. I learned that fairly early on because of how simple yet gorgeous it sounds. Would love to go through and learn the song start to finish but my skills are way too little for whats needed for that song. Especially the awesome solo. Without using tabs I tried to only use my ear to pick out the notes in the intro to Mister Sandman by Chet Atkins. I was noodling around one day and recognized a couple of notes that sound familiar in the order I was using them in. I noodled for a bit longer and realized I had somehow figured out a small chunk of the main Star Wars theme.
