Hey everyone! My best friend and singer of 15 years joined the school today because believe it or not, guitar was her first passion. She was heavily influenced by Tommy Shaw of STYX, and being classmates, she asked me for lessons. She’s also plays piano and I admit, she’s far more adept at theory than I am. She kept getting excited by all the things I was learning and just today she said, “Um, would you be mad if I joined too?”
My natural response was a ridiculous squealing fest of excitement. I’m so glad to have her on here, because a lot of our songs spawned from her playing the most random little picking thing and me building on it. Also, if you’ve listened to us playing our song “The Musicbox” on my riff page, it was ENTIRELY her idea. She started picking a Dminor barre chord a long time ago and I said, “Keep that, we’ll use it one day.” She figured out all the ridiculously weird chord names we used, and she was very particular about what I played and the arrangement of it. Needless to say, she’s a tough cookie with a heart of gold. That’s been one of my biggest prideful moments of my guitar playing!
