I bought the 100 amp version of the Katana mk2 like few weeks ago. Can't Even describe how awesome it really is! Works great when Im playing in my bedroom but has enough volume if I ever want to jam with others! I've meant to record some videos and post them here but my internet sucks (2019, right ) so it would take ages to upload.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that you can basically make the older version in to mk2 just by updating the firmware.

I can only recommend the Katanas. I bought the Katana mini as a practice amp which is great, especially as it is battery powered, and now I bought the 100 MKII. As already mentioned the Power options make it an awesome bedroom amp.

If you can't decide if you should go for MkI or MkII, from what I know the greatest difference is the "variation" button, which adds a to my ears sharper more distorted tone to it. So if you are not really a metal guy you might want to see if you can find a great deal on a MkI as it might really suffice.

I haven't played one, but so many here do swear by the Katana that it's probably the best choice.

However, I have to add, I finally unloaded a ton of my old (early 90s) gear and got a PRS MT15 (the Mark Tremonti Lunchbox tube amp) and holy fuckballs, this thing is amazing. I won't be using it often, with the AxeFX being my primary, but the MT15 with a 1x12 sealed cab loaded with a brand new Celestion V30 is pure metal bliss.

Like all tube amps, the volume can be a little delicate to adjust at bedroom volumes, but it does play well there, and has killer tone. Not likely to be the amp you can turn on at 3am and not wake anyone, but at half-power (7 watts - a switch on the back) it's easy enough to dial in low volumes, and it's got PLENTY of gain for low-volume use. I really love it so far.

My next amp is going to be the boss nextone. But if you're in your room only and dont need tube power.. if suggest digital like line 6. However.. they get a lot of hate (for no reason really are people gonna give fractual the same treatment too?) But theres a ton of stuff on my spider 5 that I havent even experimented with yet cause theres so much.

@Calvin Phillips no shortage of cork sniffers out there, and for sure, Line6 has some shit, but they also have some really nice stuff and do a lot of things REALLY well. I had a Pod HD500 that was excellent at everything except cab emulation, and I used that for years until I got my AxeFX. In fact, the Pod did pitch shifting a LOT better than the AxeFX does, even today.

I'll be selling my Pod HD soon, if someone wants to get themselves something for Christmas. It's got some heavy metal add-on pack that I bought for it, as well. I can't remember exactly.

the vox vt40x is a really good amp for the price and its a amp modeler so you have a lot of amps including a jcm 800 a dual recto and many others, and also is progamabable so its a really cool thing its like a mini axe fx or kemper, you should look for videos on you tube

I agree. I am about 200% satisfied with mine, especially with the 1x12 cab. If I didn't have it then I would want to try out a 7w katana mini for bedroom use.

Thanks guys for all kf your suggestions! I've decided I'm going to get a katana MK2, as I think the MT15 will be too loud! However I'm not sure if I should get the 100w version and then decrease the wattage as i believe it has numerous settings for this if it were too loud. What do u guys think? 100w or 50w, or other !
