Start at 3 min mark, get ready, and may god have mercy on your soul.

But for reals this is THE palm muting song. (It's Lars Ulrich's fav Megadeth song BTW) Put this at like 25%, 15%, 10% speed or whatever you need to, and just go incrementally 1% at a time faster until it's part of you. Even if like you have to go 1% faster a day/week/ etc. You have a life-time and there are only 100 percents total. Believe me I checked. (Unless you are Prince then you get infinity percents, because he is simultaneously one with all things and all of us)

Side Note: This probably goes without saying to most people but I'm absolutely ignorant to almost all tech and gear, I just play. But the fact there are so many free browser based programs that can morph audio speed and tonality at your will are amazing. Like Rhianna says "where have you been all my life". The 1% at a time thing for instance w/backing tracks. Totally new to me and a step up from a metronome. I really could have used that the last few decades.

If you wanna play base guitar, i strongly suggest you listen anything from metallica and James Hatfield. If you like solos, see Nuno Bettencourt
Thank you very much Mauro. I def love Metallica!! I'll look up Nuno Bettencourt, I know him by fame but actually never dig into his work. Time to do it!!

Extreme II Pornograffiti is the album to listen to. Nuno is INSANE. One of my guitar heroes when I was a young player.

Thank you!!! Looks like Metallica is winning this non-competition

The ending riffs of One are good too.

If you wanna work on palm muting while developing your picking skills, I'd suggest playing the chorus to Terror Train by Demons and Wizards. Probably a song you've never heard of, but if you can palm mute that you can palm mute anything.

edit: honestly any part of that song accomplishes the same goal, I just think the chorus is the most badass part.

    Thanks for the rec Ed!!!
Another technique to execute a gd palm mute is to rest ur palm on the bridge side with an angle pick. Always start slow using metronome arnd 60-80bpm for perfection. And gradually increase the tempo speed once get the right technique. In my opinion a great musician is someone who understands this 3 factor. Timing, Rhythm, Melody or Comping. And try to not neglect learning theory as well. It makes us as a musicians understand more better to why and how. Theres a diff between A great player and a great Musician. A great player just know how to play but doesn’t understand why behind what they play where else a great musicians understand why and how and when to apply mides and etc. just my 2 cent experience thru trials and mistakes over the years. In advance sorry if i offend anyone here. As us musicians, we want everyone to be better and progress the right way.
