Question about a Squier Strat

So I’m constantly looking to expand my guitar collection the best I can and always looking for bargains. But I’m not sure about this one.
I was told by a friend that the gold label Squiers are very good guitars and easily worth 600-700. But I could never validate his claim so, I turn to the community that has helped me most in the past.
Anyone have any idea what year this is, potential resale value, exc?

I don’t have a lot of experience regarding squier guitars, but I think that I might be able to help you.
1- I know that a lot of people prefer squier guitars over fender because of the value. Sometimes you get the best squier guitar for a very good price (still cheaper than a fender).
And you can change the pickups and stuff.
Regarding the price ( 700-800) I really don’t know :/
2- you can check the serial number of your friend guitar online to understand everything about her ( year, collection, rarity).
Sorry it I could not help you a lot. But that is pretty much all I know about it.

Honestly, I think someone’s bullshitting you. I’ve never seen a BRAND NEW Squier even close to $500, and a quick look at Musician’s Friend confirms – there’s nothing brand new there in the Squier Strat category over actually $400.
You get higher than that, you’re treading too close to low-end Fender territory, and they wouldn’t allow it. Plus, that one has a chunk out of the paint right near the jack.
In fact, here’s the same quitar – Squier gold logo, affinity (which I see on the headstock of yours) brand new for $230.
